Smile How do you know your song is going to be a good one or a shitty one.

Well from my experience i can say that whenever i feel shitty after working for 3-4 hours on a song than its a sign that this song it's going to be a shitty song.

Basically if a song takes energy from you than its a shitty song or if for the moment you think that its a good one in like 2 months it's going to be a shitty song.
But if you work on it a lot and you still feel passion and inspiration and you get ideeas i'm going to put this and that over there... than it's going to be a good one.
If it gives you energy and drive it's a good one.
And for the moment let's say you'll be bored by it because you know every bit of sample & echo & reverb in it...after some time (1-2 weeks) you'll like it again.

So stick with the good ones.

What are you experiences when composing?

PS: Sometimes after the initial inspiration/motivation fades out you will have to put some hard work & effort to keep the momentum going. It's like a threshold for composition of the song. If you pass this treshold than the project has big chances to be succesful.

For me there are no rules or patterns to speak of..

Sometimes I hit the right notes or chords and within a few hours the whole song is there (and I like it). Other times (what I think is) a great idea stays afloat in my brain (and hands) for months or even years before finally turning into reality.

There are those times when a great musical idea moves me in so many directions the end result sounds nothing like what I started with and yet other times I work hard and with passion at something I deem as great.. just to reach a point where I think "ah.. this is going nowhere" and I drop it.

If a song works with just simple sounds then it might work with a full on mix.
