Question Moving to new DAW . . .

    Olla to all :-D

My old PC was gone down and crashed...
blessing in disguise I had a backup ...
    but only as XP :-(
Now I'm going to install everything on win7 and push so on, or other obstacle

I would like your experiences, recommendations and suggestions not to re-establish a DAW miss

for myself first seemingly important points:
    - Splitting the harddisk or disks; meaningful Floorplan splitting where the DAW software to be installed where the Plungins be installed where the big sound content ect. what should be considered here :-)
    - Restoration of Wavelab user settings and presets (in my case Wavelab4 -> Wavelab6; i have absolutely no plan where to beginn with it)

Gladly you might like to expand this list of important points

Now i have a Backup file of my old XP system...anyway i have on the old XP System much pressets created and saved, for example on Waves Wavelab Cubase...
i can mout the old System as a virtual drive but dont know where to beginn...

I would be glad if you add your mustard could
    THANK YOU!

There will come a time when you've tried everything you're not and the only thing left will be what you are
