and no way to record anything to support you
frusterated.....
This is, as the title suggests, an experiment to if collaboration is possible here.
To start things off I typed a few notes into my DAW. Nothing special, just a few notes, fully quantised and with no feel or rhythm.
Here's what the sound like:

Next I see if it is possible to upload a MIDI file...
No. .mid is not a valid file. Hmmm. Off to the admin panel.... That's better.
Now to create a link....
The MIDI file is here.
It works but it is very clunky and difficult.
If I wanted to share a dozen audio tracks for a collaboration project then this would not be the way to do it.
I'm off to research a way that we can collaborate more easily here.

hmmm, i tried something, but failed ... sorry :(
Mdclip+theremine (copy).mp3
I have something that worked.... Just have 2 find out where it was filed automatically. I actually recorded my new theramin badger. Lol.
Three hours pass....
Ok found it.
I can only email it to myself. I cant find any other way to get it out of here.
ok sorted ... that was a painful experience once again... just to move a file from A to B.
Btw... Nice chord progression. Roland digital piano?

I've added a bitNot sure if this works but it should with some percussion!?! The audio on my track was cutoff around 40Hz+EQ+Compression.
Now to work out how to attach files in this forum..
nb. +1 on this not being the way to do this lol
ok I think I got it - Mdclip+theremine+bass2.mp3

ps. hmm I've doubled the bar count sorry. I did this because the bass has a tail on it that I think sounds a little better on the 1st beat of the 5th bar. Next person feel free to halve it because it is just a repeat (not looped) of the same notes and I'm not so sure on listening to it again that there is much difference.
pps. I used one of the midi sequences from tB and modified it a little bit. If it's rubbish just say - all good here![]()

Good choice of bass notes there... But for a track that was fully quantised, we are all very loose now.
Its hard to collab.
It is a difficult thing to collab like this.
Read the badgers post again... I dont think he really wanted all this .
Cool, let's see how can we transform/transmute this weakness into strength.
The problem is that we cant teleport the project every time somebody adds something.
Let's be creative.
Let's think in abundance not restriction/limitations.
So we have a seed that will grow into a tree.
Seed = TB's original song, i think everybody can add something anywhere (so we have diferent branches)
Maby some branches will grow flowers and than fruits (complete songs, different versions of the song)
Any other ideas?

I am pleased and gratified by your responses bros. Thanks. I really liked the 'badgermin' solo and the offbeat bass line is an interesting idea that I hadn't thought of.
Thank you guys for your responses. Actually what I was trying to do was test the forum to see how easy (or not) it would be to have collaborative projects here. Hence the overly quantised starting point.Read the badgers post again... I dont think he really wanted all this .
I half wondered if you, Roon, might take the chords and reproduce them as a string section. Or if Dope, were his studio not in a cardboard box, take them as a starting point and then play some bluesy guitar chords in stead.
I have learned something about what it is going to take to get collabs working smoothly here. I also now realise there is a lot of work to do.
As for the future of this collaboration project.
Please continue to experiment and contribute ideas everyone.
The project itself is not important, it is just a few chords. But the learning experience is invaluable!

EDIT:
Yes, exactly! All I was doing was planting a seed. Please feel free to do what you will with it. That is exactly the point! Go make flowers people!
i wish i could contribute more to the project and the piece..
unfortunately i am stuck guys... all i can lend to it is notes which is sort of lame..
its hard to transmit ´groove´ with just chords and notes written out...
i´m not really that sort of musician... i need to put my hands on it and turn on mics and twist knobs and just break it to shit to know how to make it sound right.
i cant do any of that right now with just six strings and a laptop running linux... lol
maybe i can get a controller out and try some things... i´m just really limited.. and it sucks because i so want to put that retro groove into your projects.
actually you could use dropbox, until we have our own service for the fileexchange done.![]()
