Last Saturday I was playing a gig with my band. We haven't played in a while and there's this keyboard solo... It's in G#. Or C#. Or possibly B. Or maybe it's in F.

There's 4 bars where I play nothing... and then there's supposed to be this screaming solo part.

During the 4 bar rest I realised that I could remember precisely nothing about the solo. Not a single note.



So I simply sat on the keyboard and wriggled about.


I hit the keyboard rhythmically with the palms of my hands.


I ran my elbows up and down the keys for a bit and then I headbutted it a couple of times whilst pressing the mod lever to make it scream even more.




It must've sounded dreadful, but the audience didn't seem to mind. They just assumed it was all part of the show because at the end of this demonstration of lack of musical talent I got a big cheer.


I might forget the solo again next week. Perhaps I'll bite the keyboard in half and then fart into it before slapping it with a comedy rubber chicken whilst setting myself on fire.

i think this honestly happens a lot in live performances. way more often than the average person in the crowd realizes. most people are just there to have fun so as long as it looks like your having fun.. the actual musical talent involved is null. glad you got away with it.. whenever i felt that way live i usually freak out and do the opposite.. good thing to remember.. .if you dont know what to do.. just do a bunch of slides and whammy dives and dont play any actual notes! lol
