Don't Let A Stranger Steal Your Creative Future

This is important so I’ll keep it short.
With the advent of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and online forums there has never been a greater opportunity for us to share our creative ideas with the world. Sadly, there has also never been more opportunities for strangers to to attack us from afar, they tear our creativity apart and make comments that have no basis in truth and are all too often unwarranted and unjustified.
Creatives by their very nature are open hearted and sensitive, it seldom changes with age either. These kind of attacks have the possibility to hurt, wound or in some cases kill - not always the person, but often the dream.
So use social media to share your creatvity wisely, open your heart to people who can be trusted to offer you genuine critique and surround yourself with people of wise counsel. If they are true friends then they will tell you when you miss the mark and can do better, but they will also tell you when you’ve hit the target and can rest in a job well done. We may think there’s no need for band managers, A&R, producers, college tutors and mentors, but there’s never been a more important time for this kind of support.
Social media may seem like the ultimate freedom of expression, and an amazing free distribution network, but if you don’t take care then you may be driven to silence by strangers who don’t give a damn about you or your creativity. Be smart and stay strong, your gift is too important to trust to just anybody.
